MRI of Médica Sur - Médica Sur Copyright
We are the only private Institution in Mexico with two 1.5 and 3.0 Tesla MRI scanners under the
same roof; thus, we can guarantee an incomparable image quality, as it is extremely clear and
precise. We also perform studies of the musculoskeletal system, the central and peripheral nervous
system, neck and facial massif, abdomen and pelvis, spine, thorax, breast, prostate and blood
vessels.
At Médica Sur MRI Unit we have modern 1.5 Tesla Siemens scanner, (3 Tesla scanner is currently under renovation) equipped with the accessories and features required to perform from conventional to highly specialized studies, such as diffusion tensor tractography to evaluate white matter tracts, spectroscopy to analyze metabolites in tumors, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis and Cartigram to assess cartilage lesions in the knee, hip, ankle, etc.

The images provided by our modern MRI scanners are ideal when analyzing small details to support the diagnosis of neurological, vascular, breast, musculoskeletal, abdominal and prostate disorders.
Common studies we perform:
Maintenance is given on an ongoing basis to all of our GE and Siemens brand equipment for optimal performance.
Skull MRI - We follow specific protocols for epilepsy, pituitary, cerebral
vascular events, oncology, etc.
Facial massif and neck MRI - The structural examination allows viewing soft
tissues and the vascular system, inter alia.
Spinal MRI - Images with and without contrast to view bone structures and nerve
roots.
Chest MRI - It allows the structural examination of the mediastinal region, rib
cage, muscles and subcutaneous cellular tissue.
Heart MRI - It is applied in the morphological and functional examination, such
as myocardial contractility of both ventricles, congenital anomalies, detection of infarcts,
myocarditis, and its corresponding degree of extension. The sequelae and special tests applicable
to this case are blood supply and the pharmacological stress examination, equivalent to a
conventional stress test but without physical effort.
Heart studies are prescribed for the following pathologies - Myocardial
infarction or myocarditis. These examinations are carried out by a MRI Specialist.
Abdomen and pelvis MRI - We have images with and without contrast, as well as
special protocols for liver, bile ducts, pancreas, gynecological and prostate.
MRCP - For biliary stricture, primary and infectious sclerosing cholangitis,
lithiasis, etc.
MR enterography - For the diagnosis and follow-up of inflammatory bowel disease
(Crohn's, nonspecific chronic ulcerative colitis), neoplasms, abscesses, intestinal
obstruction.
MRI of the kidneys and adrenal glands - Adrenal hyperplasia and adenomas,
neoplasms, infections, etc.
MRI of the musculoskeletal system - The musculoskeletal system is examined by
regions, depending on the area of interest - the arm, forearm, hand, wrist, thigh, leg, foot and
in joints such as the knee, shoulder, hip, ankle, sacroiliac, elbow, etc. In this area the special
functional sequence called CartiGram for cartilage assessment is utilized. A contrast agent may
also be used in certain healthcare indications.
We are aware of the importance of timely, precise and detailed diagnosis of bone, muscle or joint
injuries, resulting from professional sports activities, amateurs or in the general population as
well as in other types of injuries of traumatic, inflammatory, infectious, degenerative or
tumorous origin.
These tests are performed by a Radiologist specializing in MRI and the skeletal muscles.
MRI of the vascular system - For the study of the arterial and venous structures,
from the head to the feet, it is taken from areas of interest. The objective is to detect
aneurysms, stenosis, thrombosis, assess congenital anomalies and autoimmune, inflammatory and
degenerative diseases of the blood vessel wall.
