Most Frequent Procedures We Perform

• Endoscopy: A small camera is inserted through the mouth to visualize the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum.
  Diagnostic Uses: Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, gastrointestinal bleeding, anemia of unknown cause, suspicion of cancer or diseases such as Barrett’s esophagus, gastric ulcers, or tumors.
  Therapeutic Uses: Cauterization of bleeding ulcers, removal of polyps or foreign bodies, dilation of strictures.
  During the Procedure: Well tolerated under sedation, usually performed as an outpatient procedure with a hospital stay of approximately 2 hours.
  At Médica Sur, our highly specialized physicians have extensive experience in endoscopy and sedation. Our state-of-the-art technology ensures quality, comfort, and hygiene.
• Colonoscopy: Performed using a colonoscope with an attached video camera to visualize abnormalities and determine the appropriate treatment.
  Procedure Duration: 30 to 60 minutes. Hospitalization is not required, but it is recommended to be accompanied.
  Our highly trained physicians have vast experience in colonoscopy procedures, with advanced facilities for maximum quality, comfort, and cleanliness.
• ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography): Visualizes and treats biliary and pancreatic diseases, including gallstones, tumors, and strictures.
• Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS): Combines ultrasound with endoscopy to examine deep structures such as the pancreas, liver, or lymph nodes, aiding in the diagnosis of tumors and complex diseases.

Pulmonary Endoscopic Tests

• Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS): Combines bronchoscopy with ultrasound to visualize mediastinal structures and enhance anatomical detail, reducing biopsy errors.
  Can be performed under sedation or general anesthesia. After airway evaluation, the EBUS bronchoscope is introduced, allowing simultaneous viewing of ultrasound and bronchoscopic images. Once the target site is identified, a transbronchial aspiration needle is used to collect tissue samples.
• Linear EBUS: For biopsying mediastinal and/or hilar lymph nodes, mediastinal masses, and staging of non-small cell lung cancer.
• Radial EBUS:Uses a rotating ultrasound transducer providing a 360° image, allowing biopsy of peripheral pulmonary nodules and evaluation of airway infiltration in lung cancer.
• Bronchoscopy: Examines the trachea and bronchi to detect infections, collect samples, or remove foreign bodies.
